Daily Dose from George

I liked this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kra_z9vMnHo from George. As somebody who believes in constructivism, I support the arguments presented, and contrary to the general view in the last class that learning must not be fun, I believe learning must be fun; of course with the understnading that fun is subjective. I believe with constructive and personalised learning, an individual should learn in the way he or she enjoys it; which is fun.

I watched these clips when we were doing the communication in Education class and had a lot of reflections on them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGCJ46vyR9o ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gmP4nk0EOE

  1. Thanks for the Michael Wesch videos - those are interesting and strike a chord with lots of people!

(P.S. What i found disconcerting with the original video was the impression that i got that the children's statements were scripted)

  2. I actually loved this video No Future left behind. I thought it was a real kick out at instruction approaches and testing. Yes, get those students thinking, exploring and creating! I think I'm very fortunate that I work in ESL and it's always been about constructivism and creative teaching for me. Often teachers are given a really free rein compared to 'mainstream' teaching following really rigid curricula and syllabi. It's important to vary the different type of interaction to stave off boredom and keep students engaged. I'm not sure that 'fun' is quite the right word-even the most enthralling game will get too much if it's used for too long.
